I first began to produce digital prints in 1995 using an Amiga computer quite different to today's operating PC platform of which photoshop is used extensively.I consider these digital prints to be a unique printmaking technique in as much as it is not not just an artwork or painting that has merely been photographed and printed. It is similar in some respects to the steps taken in an etching which requires the artist to make and modify the plate taking test prints at each stage until satisfied. In these digital prints the plate has been replaced with photographs that have been made in to a digital file. The digital photographs are overlaid in multiple layers and the opacity of each layer is altered until it's ready to test print. The intensity of the print can be varied and the file which is usually quite a complex series of layers by now can be altered again and again as required. Digital Prints Page 2. From 1998 Onwards>>
